Beatrice De Ruggieri

Maria Beatrice De Ruggieri è nata a Roma ed è una Technical Art Historian esperta in indagini scientifiche e analisi multispettrali delle opere d’arte, con particolare attenzione ai dipinti del XVI e XVII secolo. A Roma svolge la sua attività come responsabile di Emmebi diagnostica artistica. A partire dal 1995, fino ad oggi ha analizzato circa 2000 opere. È autrice e curatrice di più di 50 pubblicazioni. Suo principale interesse è lo studio diretto delle opere, dei loro materiali e procedimenti tecnici anche alla luce delle fonti. È questo il tema della sua tesi di dottorato presso l’Università di Roma La Sapienza: “Il notebook di Richard Symonds, Secrete intorno la pittura (1649-1651)”.
È stata co-curatrice della banca dati “Corpus caravaggesco digitale” - Bibliotheca Hertziana Max Planck Institute (2015-2020) e dei volumi “Caravaggio. Opere a Roma. La tecnica e lo stile / Caravaggio. Works in Rome. Technique and Style” (2016), svolgendo le ricerche tecniche sulle 22 opere di Caravaggio conservate a Roma.
È professore a contratto nell’International Master's Programme in Art History: Technical Art History and the Art Museum, Stockholm University e collabora con l’Università della Tuscia, l’Istituto Centrale del Restauro e l’Universitat de València.

Maria Beatrice De Ruggieri was born in Rome and is a Technical Art Historian expert in scientific analyses and multi-spectral imaging of works of art, mainly dealing with XVI and XVII century painting. In Rome she carries out her activity as chief manager of Emmebi diagnostica artistica. Since 1995 she has worked on about two thousand of artworks. Author and editor of more than 50 publications; her main interest is in connecting the knowledge of techniques, directly studied on the artworks, with technical sources. This is the focus of her PhD dissertation at Sapienza Università di Roma, on the notebook by Richard Symonds, “Secrete intorno la pittura (1649-1651)”.
She has been co-editor of the data/image bank Corpus caravaggesco digitale - Bibliotheca Hertziana Max Planck Institute (2015-2020) and of the book “Caravaggio. Opere a Roma. La tecnica e lo stile / Caravaggio. Works in Rome. Technique and Style” (2016), carrying out the research on the 22 paintings by Caravaggio preserved in Rome.
Beatrice is Guest Lecturer in the International Master's Programme in Art History: Technical Art History and the Art Museum, Stockholm University and collaborates with the Università della Tuscia, the Istituto Centrale del Restauro and with the Universitat de València.
